Maple Walnut Scones |

3 1/2 cups flour 3/4 tsp. salt |
|
1 tab. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda |
|
1/2 cup shortening 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped |
|
1 cup milk 1/3 cup Forty to One Cooking Syrup |
|
Mix all ingredients except maple syrup. Knead 5 or 6 times, don't over do. Cut in half. Roll in 2 circles about 7 inches in diameter. Cut into 8ths, but don't separate. Prick all over the top with a fork. Brush with maple syrup. I just poured the syrup on gently. Bake 425 for 15-18 minutes until golden. |
